Holy Complications

Bookmark and Share

More blessing = more complication. But it's a good complication. Sin will complicate your life in destructive ways. Blessing will complicate your life in constructive ways.

What I'm getting at is this: blessing comes with a cost. Your life won't get simpler. It'll get more complicated. Blessing comes with inconveniences and sacrifices. But I like to think of them as holy complications. That's a pretty good definition of marriage isn't it? And Lora and I have three complications named Parker, Summer, and Josiah. It's also a good definition of ministry.

Thank God for holy complications!

I tend to experience blessing while dealing with adversity. I think thats what you are driving home here. It's definitely true. I've learned to appreciate the complications.

This is exactly what I needed to hear...I read this moments after talking to my friend about overwhelming good complications that have been coming up. This gave me a more positive outlook on what I am going through.

Perhaps it is because blessings have a way of leading US to change. And change is rarely easy, but with God leading the way, it is always good!

A question for Rev. Batterson, not for the blog. What do you do for out
reach in your immediate area of D.C.
I'm all for helping our closest neighbors. Have just read in our study group, "Seventy Faces" in Primal
and note the 10 mission trips to ten countries. Well and good, but what about all the needy in D.C. and especially children?

Our 1st United Methodist Church small group in Green Bay,WI is reading PRIMAL presently. and last year read WILD GOOSE CHASE. They are
all meaningful and most interesting
for us to study. Thank you for all
you are doing to make the love of
Jesus Christ known and how to be an
active Christian.

Phyllis,

Definitely both/and not either/or. We have to be reaching our zip code, not just area codes around the world :)
