One Year Bible

Bookmark and Share

Looking for a New Year's resolution? How about this one: read thru a one-year Bible. It was the best decision I made last year. You can find some great reading plans at www.youversion.com. Worth checking out.

FYI. NCC is going to launch a read thru the Bible campaign at the beginning of Lent. Our sermons will actually correspond to the readings. And we'll hand out our own reading plan.

I just loaded the free You Version on my iPhone. It is awesome and has the One Year Plan so nicely laid out. This is going to make the difference in helping me do this this coming year. So excited to be on this journey.

I decided to do this after reading Primal. Each of your books has challenged me in some way and this is the tangible challenge from your most recent book. I'm going with the Daily Message.

I gave my wife for Christmas an NIV One Year Chronological Bible for the two of us to read through in 2010.

Read through the Bible using the Chronological plan in 2009. It was the first time I've ever read the whole thing. Finished last night and I'm excited to see the Lent reading plan.

It was a great year. A great year in my marriage, a great year as a parent, a great year at work; I can't tell you how transformative it was to spend time every day reading the Word, even when I didn't wake up feeling "spiritual." For anyone who has trouble with daily "devotional" time, I would totally recommend trying to read the Bible in a year as a starting place. It sounds daunting, but you can have a clear plan and over the year it becomes a habit.

I don't know what the future holds, but in 2010 I'm going again.
