Journal for your Kids
Just thought I'd share a parenting idea.
One of the things I'm doing this year as I disciple Parker is keeping a journal for my son. I feel like one of my roles as a dad is biographer. And I want to be a student of my kids. So I journal thoughts, ideas, and prayers for them. Helps me keep track of the things I'm learning about my kids!

Awesome idea. I just got married 4 months ago. For twenty-two years, my mom faithfully prayed on behalf of me and her other two songs, journaling the words, thoughts and prayers she had for us. The night before my wedding, she gave to me a journal in which she had copied portions of the many journal pages she filled over 22 years with entries, prayers and words for me. I'm still working through it, but it has been on of the most significant and instrumental things that anyone has ever given me in my life.
I think it's great that you are journaling on behalf of your son.
Mark,
What a great idea! I love the idea of being a biographer of my children!
Thanks!
Paul
What a fantastic idea!! I wish I had thought of it 21 years ago. You go for it brother. Parker will be blessed by this.
I have to admit, I quoted you on my blog for all the JCFC parents. Love the idea, it's inspired.

Thanks for sharing this, Mark. It reminded me to share about the impact that my own parents' journaling has had on my life. Just blogged about it this morning:

I pray that God would abundantly bless your investment in your children! Much love.

Since my daughter was born 10 years ago I have written her letters every year around her birthday. Some years there is more to write than just at her birthday so there are supplement letters. they are in my handwritting, not typed. I think I'll give them to her at college graduation or on her wedding day. She has no idea I've been doing this, but on each letter I make sure to let her know so if they get seperated she will find the others.
This is the exact reason my wife started blogging. We have an ongoing journal complete with pictures and videos that we can hand down to our kids.
