Chase the Lion Tour

Just thought I'd share some pretty significant book developments that happened in the last week. Looks like the deal with Lifeway is a done deal. We'll turn In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day into a small group curriculum produced by Threads. It'll release Fall 07.

And it looks like we'll push back the release date of my next book on right-brain leadership till December 07 or January 08. Part of the reason for the delay is because we don't want to short-circuit the impact of In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day. Once my next book comes out I know I'll switch gears and shift focus. And I just don't think God is done with In a Pit. So I'm going to chase this lion through 2007.

So here's the deal: we're going to take the book on the road and do a Chase the Lion tour.

The event in Atlanta last week really impacted me. I think I caught a vision of what God wants to do with In a Pit. My over-riding prayer has been that God would raise up a generation of lion chasers. And I think events like the one in Atlanta can turn the book into a movement.

I've limited my outside speaking engagements to 30 nights in 2007. And I'm pretty close to that limit. But along with some of the conferences I'm speaking at, I'd like to do a few chase the lion events. So here's the deal. If you'd like to host an event, shoot an email to amanda@theatherchurch.com.

I can't make any promises, but I'd like to do 6-8 Chase the Lion events in a few major cities. There aren't any stipulations. But I think it's got to be the byproduct of prayer. In other words, you really feel like hosting a Chase the Lion event is something God has put in your spirit. It can't be a good idea. It has to be a God idea. And secondly, I'd love to see this bring churches together. I was amazed at how many churches were represented in Atlanta. It'd be really cool for the events to cross church lines--kingdom events!

Mark, the Atlanta team is de-briefing today. Although only about half those at the event returned cards, we know we had at least 38 churches and 15 different denominations/independent churches represented. Also the first study small group launched last night and over 20 guys showed up. Awesome! Know we will be praying for "the tour" and the Lord's use of "In the Pit" because we have experienced what He can and will do. Thanks again for blessing us! Walker

Walker,

I really feel like this tour is the by-product of you guys taking the initiative! I owe a debt of gratitude to the whole gang at FBC.

38 churches. Wow! What a testament to the team on the ground that promoted the event :)

Thanks,

Mark

Pastor Mark,

I tryed to download the short film defying odds and it downloads then when I go to play it, it says it is not a movie file and will not play. I am going to try the others to see if they work for me ok. The trailer downloaded fine. Any suggestions! thanks!

If you find yourself looking for a couple of "advance lion slayers", I think I can get you in touch with them :)

Great news on the bible study! I know I'm looking forward to it. The only thing I'd suggest is that you encourage them to incorporate your podcast sermons that go with the series as a part of it. My folks find tremendous value listening to the sermons during their "off" week because much more is usually said, or at least additional info, in the sermon. Just a thought. Keep up your great work!
