Andy Stanley
A few thoughts from the first session with Andy Stanley.
"Arrogance can't see itself in the mirror."
The thought that really put my leadership in perspective was the simple reminder that all leadership is temporary! Leadership is stewardship. Sounds so simple, but I needed to be reminded that our leadership is on loan!
We fall into the trap of thinking that if I don't it won't. We feel like the future depends on us. What a liberating reminder: God is sovereign.
One more thing. Christian leaders ought to reek with humility!

And the people said... "Amen."
“If I don’t, it won’t.” Always the challenge... working to glorify Him while having the faith to trust Him enough to be content with His plans more so than our own.
I'm living/attending Catalyst vicariously through you. :)
PM: How great it is to have you blogging from Catalyst. Please, please keep it up. We want to hear it all! Type away! Where are those pics of your book in the booth?
reeking of humility...
i love it!
great visual... err... smellual.
Rick Warren did a superb message on "Leadership is Stewardship" at last years Leadership Summit (maybe thats where you got the phrase?), but if you havent already heard it, get it!
"reeking of humility" ... I'm reading Former Senator John Danforth's new book "Faith and Politics" and one of his central theme is just that-- Christians must remain humble enough to recognize that there is only one Christ (sound obvious until we get into our 'judging mode') because our best efforts can only propel us to become more Christ-like, not Christ.
