My all-time favorite pizza in the world is Lou Malnatti's. If you haven't had Lou Malnatti's pizza you've lived a sheltered life. All week I've been anticipating Malnatti's. I started drooling on Monday. I didn't know where the closest one to Willowcreek was going to be, but there was no way we weren't going to "go see Lou."
Long story short, we had a "speaker's lunch" before the forum yesterday and they served Malnatti's. And the owner's wife was there! I got her autograph. She said she's never given anyone an autograph before :) I told her that if she was willing to franchise Malnatti's in DC we'd just throw out the whole coffeehouse idea (just kidding).
It's hard to describe my love for Malnatti's pizza, but while I was eating I kept telling everyone at our table, "I'm so happy. I'm so happy."
By the way, the Malnatti's are believers and they "tithed" their tenth store to a church. How cool is that?

Pastor, I must confess that I have never had Lou Malnatti's pizza nor had I ever heard of them. What a sheltered life I must have lived. I'll tell you what though....you haven't lived until you have had a hot dog from "Mr. Dog" in Colombia!!! Ingredients include (to the best of my memory)huge bun, hotdog, ham, hard boiled eggs, chip crumbs, mayo, mustard, and pineapple sauce sprinkled on top. It is so big you can barely get your mouth over it!!! :)
Sounds like a good midnight snack :) By the way, Ben's Chili Bowl in NW DC is another good midnight snack. Really good for your digestive track!
pm-
oh, what those who have not been there do not know- and really, just can't understand.
i know lots of people from jersey and ny rave about their pizza, but we chicagoans are the only people that i know that actually can have their mood drastically changed by eating or anticipating a pizza- (i too have been known to speak aloud my joy while enjoying a good deep dish)
lou's is great, also a giradano's fan, but the best little place for flat pizza is in the sw suburb of justice, a place called fasano's... whenever i fly home for a weekend, my parents pick me up from the airport, we order the pizza and pick it up on the way home... yes, every time...
man, now i'm cravin'
*hasler
DC Pizza - you have to look around but you can find it - 2 Amy's in Woodley/Cleveland Park area, Pizza Paradisio in Dupont is Terrific. Ella's Woodfired pizza around MCI Center, and Matchbox also around MCI Center are all very good. Arlington - I can only think of the Italian Store - takeout only is fabulous.
Christian Pizza - good idea - but hold the Anchovies.
